
Dr Yinghong Zhou is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Queensland School of Dentistry, where she leads the ImmunoEngineering for Regenerative Dentistry research team. Leveraging her background in clinical dentistry and biomedical engineering, Yinghong’s research focuses on decoding biological cues to design innovative cell-instructive scaffolds for the regeneration of bone and periodontal tissues. Beyond her research, Yinghong actively contributes to the professional development of SYIS by leading workshops on academic pathways for Women in STEM. She is also passionate about STEM education for future generations, having taken on roles such as Seed Grant Committee Lead and STEM Expert at Inspiring Australia since 2019. Outside of the lab, Yinghong finds joy in bushwalking and dancing Argentine Tango.

Ting Wang is a postdoctoral fellow in human pluripotent stem cells (ES and iPS cells) culture and differentiation for clinical application. She obtained her bachelor’s degree at Zhengzhou University China in 2016, and a PhD at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences & Peking Union Medical College, China in 2021. From 2021 to 2024, she served as a postdoctoral researcher at Eye Hospital, Wenzhou Medical University.
Her primary research interest is in lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) based drug delivery for the treatment of genetic disorders, infectious diseases, and cancers. Currently, she mainly works on LNPs-based mRNA drug delivery for the treatment of ocular genetic disorders, such as age-related macular degeneration (AMD), and RPE-65-related retinal degeneration. Meanwhile, she also works on enhancing the storage stability of mRNA-LNPs at mild storage conditions by achieving the lyophilization and optimization of LNPs compositions. Dr. Wang has published 11 SCI articles as the first or co-first author and has a huge passion for academic research in the field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
Dr Wang served as a referee in the TERMIS-AP Webinar Student Contest in 2021, 2022 and 2023. She also serves as the TERMIS-AP SYIS Chair-Elect.

Dr Ziyu Wang is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Sydney. He received a PhD in Tissue Engineering from the University of Sydney in 2022, along with a BE in Biomedical Engineering (Class I Honours) in 2017. His research employs a multidisciplinary approach encompassing biomedical engineering, biomaterials, immunology, and cell biology to develop innovative solutions for real-world health issues. Dr Ziyu Wang is interested in the use of biomimetic and biodegradable materials for the healing and regeneration of soft tissues. His current projects include testing innovative biodegradable vascular implants in large animal models, improving elastin regeneration in aged populations using polymeric nanodevices, and developing immunomodulatory band-aids for accelerating chronic wound healing. He has established collaborations with renowned researchers not only in Australia but also in the US, China, and Europe. Notably, his findings published in Advanced Materials have been featured in 55 news articles across eight languages. This wide reach presents significant potential for fostering collaboration and engagement within the scientific community and beyond. As TERMIS-AP SYIS Secretary, he assists the TERMIS-AP chapter in organising scientific and social events for EMCRs.

Dr. Ziyang Lan has an academic and research background in biomedical engineering and biomaterials. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Tsinghua University in 2014 and a Master's degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 2015. He completed his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin in 2023 under the guidance of Professor Elizabeth Cosgriff-Hernandez. He is currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in Professor Shengmin Zhang's research group at Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
With over ten years of research experience, Dr. Lan specializes in biomaterials, tissue engineering, and drug delivery, with a focus on developing multifunctional hydrogels for wound healing and cardiac patches. His work on creating advanced hydrogel dressings aims to solve key issues such as infection control and moisture regulation in diabetic foot ulcers and chronic wounds. In the past five years, Dr. Lan has published 14 papers as the first or co-author in Bioactive Materials, Science Advances, Materials Today, and ACS Nano, earning over 500 citations. He also contributed to the fourth edition of "Biomaterials Science." Recognized for his achievements, Dr. Lan received the 2024 Student Award for Outstanding Research from the Society for Biomaterials (SFB) at the World Biomaterials Congress in Daegu, South Korea.

Dr. Amitha Banu S is a veterinary scientist specialising in tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and preclinical models. She received a Bachelor's from Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (2019), a Master's (2021), and a PhD (2024) from ICAR–Indian Veterinary Research Institute, India. Her research focuses on advanced biomaterials and stem cell-based or cell-free therapies for wound, bone, cartilage, liver, and nerve regeneration. She has designed and validated various experimental models, including bone defects, burn and diabetic wounds, enabling impactful translational collaborations. Dr. Banu has authored over 25 peer-reviewed publications and presented her work at numerous international conferences. As the Communications Officer for SYIS-AP, she leads outreach initiatives, promotes events, and fosters member engagement, with a strong commitment to building networks and advancing the visibility of young investigators across the Asia-Pacific region.
